Series 63 Schedule: Whether You Have 5 Days or 5 Weeks

Series 63 schedule

Whether your Series 63 schedule for studying is being measured in days, or weeks, we have a few recommendations.

Series 63 Schedule

The Series 63 exam is one of the easier exam when it comes down to it. At Professional Exam Tutoring, we see students that are able to conquer the SIE Exam, similarly conquer the Series 63 Exam.

However, we always advise realism. Many new hires are pressed for time. If you are one of these “new hires”, then you probably have to get your exams done in short time. Usually a few months is all you get, so you need to budget your time well.

For instance, we have some students that have only had five days to study. After failing the Series 7, or their first attempt at the SIE Exam, it pushes their schedule back. While we have seen many of these students pass, another large group fails. Such a short time frame adds pressure and stress.

The Series 63 Exam tends to be easier than the Series 66 exam, or the Series 65 exam. But, it still requires at least a few weeks of preparation for the average person.

Allocate at Least 3 Weeks…If You Can

We typically recommend that you set aside three weeks to study for this exam.

The reality of course is that most people will not study for a full three calendar weeks. If you include days off, as well as the odd surprise at work, or in your personal life, you may only realistically study for two weeks or slightly more.

The content is not particularly difficult, but the questions can be. This exam involves understanding laws, and regulations. The wording however, can throw people for a loop. Try to read through the text in one week or less, and use the remaining time to study practice questions. You want to familiarize yourself with all their tricks (double negatives, confusing one concept for another, etc.).

What Series 63 Textbook Should You Use and Where Should You Focus?

We recommend Kaplan or STC. They are both excellent resources. As always, Kaplan has a more user-friendly QBank, but either text will sufficiently prepare you.

Some of the core focal points to focus on if you don’t have a lot of time, will be exempt securities and exempt transactions. Also, registration of securities, agents, broker dealers, investment advisors, and investment advisor representatives.

There is a lot of wordplay on this exam, so focus is the key. Tutoring can always help too 🙂
