FINRA’s SIE Practice Exam: A Good Gauge of Progress

When studying for the SIE exam, we highly recommend that you take FINRA’s SIE Practice Exam. In today’s post, we explain why.

FINRA’s SIE Practice Exam: From the Source

One reason, we highly recommend this practice exam is that typically your best resource for studying is from the entity writing the exam.

We strongly expect that the wording, difficulty level, and even proportion of quantitative versus qualitative questions may be representative to what you are likely to see on the real exam.

In other words, this could make for a fairly good representation of where you’re truly at with your studying.

Generally, what we have found is that students’ scores on FINRA’s practice exam tends to be fairly close to how they do on the real exam. Some express that this is a little easier than the real thing, so take that possibility into consideration too.

Why Can’t I Just Know the Content?

We highly recommend that you do this practice exam more than once. Ideally you want to be as familiar as possible with every question on this exam.

The practice exam online does a great job of including a little bit from every section and adding a little bit of trickery to ensure knowing definitions is not necessarily good enough.

This is likely to be your experience on the real exam as well. Knowing definitions, formulas, and rules and regulations verbatim is not necessarily the end all be all. You need to be able to navigate the tricks and double negatives often thrown out during questions.

Overall, the online practice exam from FINRA is an excellent practice test for anyone starting out with the SIE exam. Before you decide you want to commit to studying for this exam, this online resource is excellent. If you need any help, feel free to reach out. Good luck!
