SIE Exam Prep in 2024: Focus on What Works and Forget the Rest

When it comes to SIE exam prep in 2024, we have already seen a lot of students with familiar habits. Generally speaking, spending a lot of time spinning their wheels. Specifically, putting work into low return on investment areas can extend your study process. Not only that, but it runs the risk of leading to a failed exam attempt. in today’s post, we recommend where to focus your energy for the SIE exam

SIE Exam Prep in 2024… Start with the Basics

First, you want to make sure that you have the right study material. On this front we continue to recommend STC as the provider of choice. STC is best when it comes to the SIE exam mostly because of their practice questions. As discussed in our recent post on a SIE study material update, we noted that their practice questions tend to be the best gauge to know whether or not you’re ready for the exam.
Next, we might recommend you know how to use their practice questions effectively. By this, we mean that you should use their practice final exams and their greenlight exams to exhaustion. Or, at least until your score is in the mid 80% range, whatever comes first.

The Approach

To do this, we recommend you start with the first practice final exam and then work your way through to the eighth one. After you’re finished your first round through their eight final exams, we recommend that you take the first greenlight exam. After the first greenlight exam, we recommend that you go online and you take the SIE practice exam offered by FINRA.
FINRA questions tend to be the best source since it’s coming straight from the “horse’s mouth” so to speak.
Once the FINRA practice exam is complete (and reviewed), go back through the eight practice final exams from STC for a second go-around. Take the second greenlight exam, and repeat the FINRA practice exam online for a second time.
All in all your goal is to achieve at least a 80%+ score on the practice final exams, and ideally above a 65% score on the greenlight exams. If your scores are lower than this, then we recommend a little more practice until your scores are higher. This might mean even a third time through the practice final exams.
Beyond this, tutoring is always a great option as we know a great SIE exam tutor! For more help and more information feel free to reach out. Good luck!
