Series 79 Problems: How Many Are Enough?

series 79 problems

How many Series 79 problems are enough to get you by?

That’s a question that we get frequently at Professional Exam Tutoring. In today’s post, we will try to answer that question.

Series 79 Problems

First, when it comes to taking Series 79 problems, you want to make sure that you have the right resources. The top two textbooks that we recommend for the Series 79, in order of preference, are: 1) Knopman Marks, and; 2) STC.

While the large majority of people that we come across use Knopman, STC is a great resource too. Both sets of practice questions from either company should help prepare you for your exam. Knopman has a very extensive database of questions, and their explanations tend to be quite good so we tend to prefer them. STC, on the other hand, has questions that overlap to some extent their Series 86 practice questions, and while most material is applicable we think Knopman to be a little better.

So How Many Problems Should I do?

The number of practice problems you do should not be your focus. Your practice scores are really the end all, be all when it comes to determining whether you are ready or not.

Specifically, test takers that have the most success their first time around will go into the exam with average scores on their last three practice exams around the mid to low 80% range at a minimum. Anything higher, and your probability of passing should get significantly higher.

That said, we have seen plenty of people pass the exam without cracking the 80% barrier, but the odds are lower.

To be sure, most people will not simply be able to do a small handful of questions and then quickly achieve over 80% on their practice scores. It takes time.

Thus, we do have a suggestion on how to make sure that you can get your scores up over 80%.

Generally speaking, we recommend that you do anywhere between 80 and 120 practice questions per day. That seems to be sufficient for our students to get their scores to a place where they are more likely to pass. Averaging somewhere north of at least 2,000 questions overall should provide you with a large enough sample of various questions asked various ways.
