Year End Studying: Book Your Exam in Advance

Whether your year end studying is for the Series 7 Exam, SIE Exam, Series 86 Exam, or others, we recommend that you start organizing your study time. With that, you should also consider when to book your exam with an exam center.

In today’s post, we explain why and how to strategize for year end.

Year End Studying: Plan for Distraction

With the month of November now upon us, a few big dates are worth keeping in mind.

The Thanksgiving holiday is a little more than three weeks away. Typically this week is a big distraction for most people from studying.

If you want to get your exam done before the Thanksgiving holiday, then we highly recommend that you book your exam slot very soon with a testing center. As the holidays approach, the slots book up fast!

Also, make sure to space out your studying and maximize your weekends.

You should expect that work will also get busy given the time crunch before the holidays. It is only human to procrastinate work until it absolutely needs to be done – and your bosses probably do this too (without telling you). Holidays are usually a good reminder for people to get their work done sooner than later.

Look at a Calendar

To get a sense of how much time you have before your exam, take a look at the calendar. Try to space out your study time in a reasonable manner.

Generally speaking most people need about three or four weeks doing practice questions for the Series 7 Exam. For the Series 79 Exam, two or three weeks is typically needed. For the Series 86 exam, sometimes it’s three or four weeks.

Additionally, consider the time it will take you to get through the textbook or study videos. You may start thinking about taking your exam in December, if there are not enough weeks in November.

And of course, the holidays in December come very fast. The exam centers are in high demand usually before the new year so book early.

Overall, the next two months tend to be a busy time of year. Studying and work may demand more of your time. Be sure to space your time to relieve the stress. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. Good luck!
