Summer Studying is Over: How to Learn Amidst Busy Times

Summer studying tends to be a little more laid-back. Most students and their managers are in lighter moods and the summer seems to go on for as long as the days. With Labor Day weekend wrapping up, here are some tips for the upcoming season.

Summer Studying is Over: Time to Start Juggling

With a more relaxed schedule, summer studying sometimes allows for free Friday afternoons. Getting a little more study time in has its advantages.

Starting this coming Tuesday, however, business will begin in earnest. The fall season tends to be a return to business as usual.

Investment banking, brokerage, and financial advisory businesses ramp back up. Managers and coworkers come back from vacation. And everybody starts to become cognizant of their year end bonuses.

With more work and less time to study, you’ll need to fill in every gap possible. This may require little spurts of studying here and there. To ensure you’re covering as much as possible, you may want to juggle between different study topics.

How To Juggle

For example, on any given day, you should be covering at least four topics, in our view. Whether studying for the Series 79 exam, the Series 7 exam, or SIE exam, be sure to cover plenty of ground.

The Series 86 exam is a vastly different animal and we recommend that you take a look at some of our other blog posts. Also, take a look at our Series 86 video course for even more help.

By juggling a few topics per day, that realistically only leaves you open to doing as many as 15 or 20 practice questions per day from various topics.

Although this might not seem like a lot, it is perfectly reasonable if you continue to include them in a rotation every four or five days. You will also need to give yourself at least four weeks.

Furthermore, at least once per week you want to do at least one full practice exam. This will ensure that you cover almost every topic at least once per week. And if you can squeeze in two practice exams per week, the more the better.

In short, though the summer is almost over, there is still plenty of time to get your studying done and maximize your weekends. With nice weather lingering in most parts of the country until the end of September, the sooner you get your exam done the sooner you can enjoy some pumpkin spice outdoors!
