When it comes to Series 7 exam day, we have a few recommendations we’ve seen work well. In today’s post, we share some of those.
Series 7 Exam Day…What Works
Most of your teachers probably told you never to cram for an exam. They certainly were right when it comes to an entire exam. That said, one tip we have for exam day is cramming a few important tidbits into your short-term memory.
Cramming for a whole exam is not a good idea for the simple reason that your brain has a capacity for short-term memory. However, your memory can definitely handle a few things for a short period of time.
For that reason, we recommend students write down three or four formulas, definitions, rules and regulations, or anything else that seems to be hanging by a thread in their memory. Ultimately, you want to prioritize something that seems core on the exam from the Options, Municipal Bonds, Investment Companies, or Margin sections.
Take your notes with you on your way to the exam. Just before you go into the exam center read them over a few times so that you’ve got them in your short-term memory. Once you sign in, and the exam starts, write them down on your scratch paper. If you’re lucky, they’ll show up on your exam. If they don’t show up on your exam, at least you were prepared ahead of time
No, Don’t Take a Day Off
Many students ask us if they should take a day off before the exam. The short answer is, no.
Your brain does not need a full day’s rest before your exam. However, it does need rest. So treat the day before the exam just like every other study day. Although, the day before for the exam, you may want to finish studying around 7 PM or 8 PM at night. Go to bed slightly earlier than you normally do. Aim for no less than seven hours sleep to be most effective and sharp.
The last day of studying has the potential to still get you an extra point. Taking a day off before the exam only makes sense if you’re scoring well into the high 80% range.
Don’t Leave Time on the Clock
Our last bit of advice on exam day is to not submit your exam if you finish early. If there is still time left on the clock, we highly recommend you review all of your answers in which you were confident.
We specifically recommend these ones because you’re more likely to catch any errors. Furthermore, you’ll be able to cover a lot more ground on questions in which you were confident than on those which you were not.
We know exam day can be stressful. Stick to some of these simple tips to help get you by all the Series 7 Exam 2025 has to offer. It’s just as challenging as it’s been in recent years. If you need any help, feel free to reach out. Good luck!
